Still alive, working on armor. More pics to come after the Holidays.
Things have been busy in Glychville. I’ve been very busy working on this Sledgehammer project and will update the project folder soon with new pictures and information. For the moment, though it has greatly occupied my time.
So, somewhere around the 1st of the month, the No Stereotypes part of my site crashed. I’ve recently been settling into a new place after a move and hadn’t noticed. I don’t have FTP set up yet at the new place, so I don’t know if the database is still there or if the folder completely wiped itself. Someone said they were getting a “server could not be found,” message and then I had a “setup your Wordpress site,” page when I visited. I don’t know what happened. I’m not pleased, but if the database is still floating out there in the ether somewhere, then there’s hope. Otherwise, I’ll have to build it from scratch again.
I’ve been working on a new short comic and have some ideas floating around my mind for others. A new location, a large new office, this wonderful film project in my life, and happiness creeping into my psyche. Things are good. :) Stay tuned!
Today I added Bondo to the arm piece. No process pictures, because it was so quick, but plenty of the final product.
Head on over to The Projects page to check out the new pics!
I’ve also reorganized the portfolio page, moving the short comics over to the “comics,” tab and separating out the stories “Polarity,” and “Remnants.” I also added a great deal to the concepts and designs section.

I’ve added a “Projects,” page to the site. This way I can just upload my progress on the sci-fi armor there rather than clutter up the last post with updates. On that note, we have a script and a name! The short will be titled Sledgehammer and it’s full of epic wonderment.
Some future projects I want to add to the page include a series of photos of the inside of a spaceship I helped build 2 years ago, and maybe some tutorials. I’m not sure. Anhyoo, enjoy the progress photos. Today, I’m applying bondo to the outside and shaping the piece.
For the future, I will see about setting up the Ustream channel for this build since someone sent me an e-mail about that. It might be kind of interesting to try and get a camera out there for it. We’ll see.

UPDATE 9/20/11: Added new pics to the slideshow of the fiberglass process. I have also added comic #101 to the NS archives.
Before I continue onward, I would like to offer a huge and public thank you and shout out to my friend Rob Witroff who sent me over to the fine people on the 405th.com Halo forums. I would also like to offer my sincere thanks to them. If it weren’t for the brave pioneers there, I would have no idea how to make this stuff. Finally, my undying love towards the folks at Tama Software for making Pepakura, an amazing paper-model making program. With all of that being said, This is what I have been working on all day.
Armor Test
I’ve never built anything like this before, so my director has asked me to build him a “test piece.” Something smaller than the entire thing but can be used later. If he likes my work, then I will be hired to build the rest of the suits. If not, then consider this a journal of an interesting project.
We chose an arm gauntlet. Most notably, the right forearm. Above is a gallery with today’s progress. Today, I finished my paper mold. Tomorrow, I get started in fiberglass. Ooh. Exciting! Stay tuned!
Uploading comics will happen as things need to dry.
